Crafting the Rituals dispensing system

Starting from the housekeeper’s need to replace the bottle as quickly and easily as possible, we developed a bracket with a symmetrical, minimalist design that securely holds both the bottle and the pump.

We are proud that the replacement time is extremely short, and the bracket is very easy to use—even with one hand—thanks to a self-locking mechanism that automatically engages when the bottle is placed inside.

Every luxury brand faces a unique challenge when functionality meets design. For Rituals, as they expanded within the high-end hotel sector, this challenge crystallized around their premium amenity bottles. While the bottles themselves were admired for their quality and design , the unique demands of five-star hospitality required a refined, durable, and above all, secure dispensing solution.

Rituals required a partner who could engineer a fixture that looked as elegant as it performed - one that prioritized operational efficiency and absolute security without compromising aesthetic excellence. Our task at Maralio was clear: develop a patented bracket system engineered specifically for their bottles, ensuring this premium solution could never be replicated for competing brands, cementing Rituals’ market exclusivity.

The challenge

The core requirements went beyond simple wall mounting; they demanded a fundamental improvement in the day-to-day operation of high-volume luxury hotels. We were tasked with eliminating a 20-second delay in housekeeping procedures found on the previous design, ensuring an instant and effortless bottle swap.

On the security front, the solution needed an uncompromising anti-theft and tamper-proof design, requiring a dedicated key system for authorized personnel. A critical engineering hurdle was the need for universal adaptability. The system had to seamlessly accommodate three different Rituals bottle sizes, with height variations of up to 3mm, requiring self-compensation without any manual adjustment. Finally, Rituals sought an innovation that transcended existing competitor solutions, which typically involved complex, labor-intensive manual steps.

The process begins with receiving physical bottle samples from our clients. Whether it's a custom-designed amenity bottle or a specific brand of luxury toiletries, we need the actual product in our hands. This isn't just about measurements, it's about understanding the weight distribution, the bottle's center of gravity, and how guests will interact with the fixture during their stay.

Our response was a holistic engineering effort, focused on developing a sophisticated bracket system that redefined industry standards. We began with a detailed analysis of the guest experience and housekeeping workflow. Our design process resulted in an aesthetic mastery of understated elegance.

To ensure the required long-term durability suitable for luxury hotel environments , we utilized 3mm-thick, 304-grade stainless steel, which guarantees exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and a premium finish. For security and operational speed, we developed a proprietary automated claw mechanism. This intelligent grip system ensures the bottle is secured with optimal pressure, guaranteeing a theft-proof and tamper-proof solution. It can only be operated with Rituals' dedicated key, ensuring maximum safety.

The engineered solution

The Automated Claw Mechanism:

This is the heart of the system's efficiency. Upon unlocking, the claw automatically opens and gently pushes the bottle out, enabling a one-handed bottle swap. A new replacement bottle locks automatically with a simple insertion and satisfying click, requiring no manual reset procedures. This instant operation, delivered by our Push-Click Revolution system, reduces swap time significantly below the original delay requirement.

Aesthetic Mastery & Minimalist Profile:

By engineering the final push-click lock system, we were able to significantly reduce the size of the bracket compared to earlier prototypes. This reduced size creates a more discreet and elegant presence , allowing the Rituals bottles to command attention. Furthermore, we offered to our partners three distinct luxury finish options: brushed, electropolished and powder coated stainless steel, ensuring perfect integration with diverse bathroom designs.

Adaptive Height Compensation:

The proprietary Fixation tab mechanism solved the challenge of universal bottle compatibility. It ensures a perfect, unwavering fit across all three Rituals’ bottle sizes despite variations, providing stability regardless of the size and setting it in place so it won’t turn around easily.

Threaded Security and Base Geometry:

Our unique base design includes a threaded security section. This bolt-secured system guarantees complete stability and makes bottle removal through the base impossible, making it vandal-resistant. Furthermore, the base uses a semi-oval shape for optimized insertion geometry, facilitating smooth bottle exchange and eliminating the obstruction issues found with traditional bases.

Universal Installation:

For hotels utilizing existing wall holes, we integrated an elegant retrofit solution. Our Adaptive Mounting System features a fixed hole and an adjustment slot for variable screw positioning, allowing hotels to utilize pre-existing wall holes and eliminating costly modifications.

Understanding the practical challenges of hotel management and renovation, we extended the solution beyond the core fixture with critical value-added innovations.

Modular Stability Options:
Our comprehensive approach includes sophisticated accessories based on client demand. These include a countertop fixture for standing installations and a screw-in Support Ring. This ring provides maximum bottle stability and vandalism resistance, ensuring long-term reliability in high-traffic environments.
